Default Hard to Hold Clutch In

I have an 87 Hurricane 1000 with 28000 miles on it for 5yrs now. When you pull in the clutch at a stop light it is hard to hold in. It kills my hand. I have changed every part of the clutch assembly except the clutch basket and lines.I have also changed the primary and slave cylinder with the rod going in to the transmission.Untill now when I found your great forum nobodys had an answer. Ifanybody can help I would be greatful. Everything else about the clutch and gear shifting works fine.

I dont have an answer for you since I have never worked on my clutch and i have only owned my93 for a couple of months now. I will say this... I have to make sure I have my hand positioned good when i hold it in, because it is a little strong. Its more clutch than any other bike I have owned or ridden. I guess because its hydraulic. But when I get a chance at a stop light, Im in neutral to give my hand a break.

I know this is a really stupid answer, but, I'm a real ... ...
It the clutch assembly mounted properly, it might need to be moved in a little on the handle bar (or rotated)

Mine's a little strong, but maybe if you have small hands it would be worse ( I have xxl paws)
Perhaps fitting Pazzo levers would help ? Not cheap tho'....

Welcome to the forum bruiserc. When you say that you replaced the master and slave cylinder, did you replace with new or used ?

Thanks everybody for your answers. Medium size paws. New parts on everything that I replaced from Honda Dealership. I may try those levers you where writing about. I have messed with the position of the clutch assembly to see if that helped. I have also bought a Honda Owners Manual to work on it and get answers to problems. Everything it say I have done. I guess it is probably just the way the clutch is on a older bike compare to the newer ones that I have ridden before. One thing about having an 87 Hurricane there is not alot of people in your area with one to compare with, but hey that is one of the things I love about this bike. One of a kind. Thanks again for your time.

After the winters thaw, mine feels a little heavy at first. I just need to get out and ride to strengthen my grip some. The other thing might be that someone has put stronger springs in it. It has been raining here for months. My clutch will feel heavy if I ever get a chance to ride this summer. I havebeen riding in down poursso far.It is pouring out as I am typing this. The 7 day forecast is 7 more days of rain. There is no end to this rain.

I have also had this issue, these are a couple of things you can try. Change the angle of the lever slightly, either up or down till it feels more natural from your seated position. I angled mine down a bit and found it easier on my wrist, the other thing I do is pull the lever from as far to the end of the bar as I can, this gives you more leverage on it and reduces strain on the fingers.

In case you didn't... clean and lube the lever pivot.
