Default Givi top box for 1987

I just picked up a 1987 CBR1000F. Good price and shape with low miles. It's been sitting for a few years but have got it started and will sort the rest of it out before spring. I'm sure I'll be using the forum quite a bit for the next few months!

I want to use it for sport touring and want to mount my Givi top box. The problem is that I can't seem to find a mount for an 87. From 89 on it isn't an issue. Does anybody know if Givi or anybody else made a mount for the 87?

Thanks!

Hi Russ - moved your post here - the other section is for "how to" not "how do I do"
You'll get more replies here anyway, the rest of the asylum inmates will see your question.

I'll post some when I have it back together. Right now most of the plastic is off.

Did you retain your helmet lock and seat latch? Mine has the lock on the left of the grab rail.
Thanks!

Mine also has the helmet lock and seat latch on the left side. But the side of the wing rack is in the way to use them. To take off the wing rack is only 3 screws on each side.

Thanks for the pics, I appreciate them. I guess the tailpiece fits under the wingrack? I like the color scheme on yours much better than mine. Mine's kind of a purple. Your exhaust is different than mine as well.

It seems that 87-88 are different than later years and some parts will be specific to these two years. Have you had much trouble locating parts for yours?

Thanks again for all the help!

Yes the 87 is the Father of the Hurricanes and the Godfather of the Sportbikes. The parts do differ from generation to generation. I did have a problem finding parts for my 87 'Cane till I found this CBRF. I have had stock exhaust on this bike for years. This winter I bought the Vance and Hines full exhaust system and put it on to see what it is like. I also have done the jet kit and the K&N filter.

This video is from last summer.
