alrighty, ill give it a shot. the worst part about doing it on my truck was that i didnt realize after i removed the needles, the shafts continued to spin, and i spent hours recalibrating them.....but they were electric so im guessing with cable driven they should be straight forward,,,
and with that being said, can anyone recommend me a link to some hid headlights? thanks

Yes they do come apart.
If you look in the "how to" section, I did a write-up on how to remove the panel.

Once that is done, there are screws holding the panel together, about 8 I think.
The needles can be a b1tch to get off if they have been glued in.
Use the correct tools or you WILL stuff up the speedo. Take it to an instrument tech or ask his advice.
I replaced my clock face with a Kilometer one, and it works fine.
The speedo works on a magnetic system, so even with the cable it's not a direct drive. The cable spins a magnetic disc.
When you have it free of the cable, gently push the needle up to about 100 and it will slowly return until it hits the stop. It's quite important to mark where the shaft stops or the needle wont give you correct figures.
Good luck with it.
And buying replacement face plates is easy - numbers of guys on e-Bay do it, just about any colour you could ask for.

These are in Kilometers but you get the idea.
Oh and if you're planning to replace gauges not all years are the same. Face plates fit differently.
