Default fuel pump removal

hi all, started the season real badly, bike started then died on idle, in the process of elimination of probable causes, my friend stumbled upon your forum and gave me a call telling me the stupidest thing I have ever heard coming out of this mouth.. "just remove the dams pump and I'm sure you'll be ok"... well I'm here to tell you that yes, my bike is "alive" again. Just wanted to say thank you all for not making me sell my beloved Hurricane 1000 for pieces. Mike from Montreal Canada.

Glad you got it running Mike.

Lots of guys running a gravity fed system, in fact 89 on-wards have no fuel pump as standard.

Enjoy the season

well here's an incredible story, a week after I removed the pump I prepped the bike for a nice weekend ride. A friend called me to go see a movie later that evening, went to his place with the bike and parked it in front of his house and we took his car... Came back 2hours later to find my baby on her side in the ditch front end all messed up... no witnesses, classical case of hit and run. Sold the bike for pieces tried to look for another one but in vain.. But I did find another beauty... A Blackbird 1999, drove like a maniac and got it before I lost this one too.. In the end I'll still be riding a CBR this summer!

Bad luck with the 1000f, there are some mongrels about. Hope you enjoy your new ride.
