Default Fuel Pump

I am a new member and Hurricane owner and wondering if someone could lend some advice? I have an 87 Hurricane which has been stored for several years and I am in the process of getting it back on the road. I was stored properly, carbs and tank drained. My question is, the fuel pump will not work. I have power to it and if I run it directly to the battery with by pass wires it will run but will not when it is connected with the wiring harness? Is there a relay or a ground problem? I should not the bike will run on reserve. I am stumped. Any advice would be great

I have a '94 W/O fuel pump. I don't know why Honda would put one on to begin with.
Gravity has proven itself to work.

I would re-ask the question to; Can it be removed or bypassed?

That does not sound to good I think.
An empty fueltank rusts pretty fast inside, did you coat it with oil before storing ?

G'day and welcome to a fellow '87 rider... if the pump works when connected to the battery, is it possible there may be a break in the wire in the harness that is stopping it from operating? i found a broken wire that was causing me probs, just a thought...
