Default FJ rear end - will an FK/FL fit ?

Hi from an old guy in the UK. I have a cbr1000fj please do`es any one know if a swing arm caliper rim and suspension unit from a 91 fm will fit ? If so what mods are required. I have a complete rear end from a 1991 bike. And I would like to fit to my fj if possible. Thanks Steve.

Welcome to the Asylum !
You'll have more luck with your question in the Hurricane section -so I took the liberty of copying it here.
Plenty of Fj /Fh owners to help you..................

Haha! I must have answered just after you did, shadowman.

I think this is a direct swap as long as you have the calipers/rim/etc. I know it's been done a few times here over the years.

Must be the snow, slowing you down, Dylan..............
Maybe the man could use some manuals
https://cbrforum.com/forum/workshop-manuals-85/workshop-owners-manuals-101309/
Look at blackbears - the manual for the F/h F/j is there..........
ignore the Russian cyrillics - it's in English....

Thanks for the welcome Pete. Well a bit about my self ,I live just outside Derby. I am retired. I was a steel erector. My previous bikes were BSA db32 GOLD STAR That was before I married in 1969. It has taken me till 5 yrs ago to get my wife to let me have another one LOL. I have fitted the later swing arm and suspension unit to the fj and put my back out putting the bike back on the stand ! I spent last night reading all the threads on sprockets. Gearing up etc . And was wondering why the 87 88 had a 43t and the 89 has a 42t rear sprocket? Can I leave the 42 0n with the earlier engine? Thanks again for the welcome. Steve.

Yes you were right it was a straight bolt on with the later caliper etc I got the entire rear end from a guy in kent for £90 delivered. As he only bought the bike for the engine.

Glad to hear you got it bolted up. As far as the sprockets, that's fine, too. I run a 44t on the rear of mine. It all just depends on the gearing you'd like...accel vs. top speed. However, just a tooth won't really make a noticeable difference.

You can post pics a couple different ways. You can upload them to a photo hosting sight like photobucket and then paste the link into your post.... or you can start an album on here (from your user control panel) and then copy the link into your post.
