The first 12 months of ownership.
Hi
Just wanted to pay a short tribute to my CBR1000FX. I bought the bike 12 months ago after moving from a sometimes unreliable and poorly built ZZR1100. Initially I missed the sheer adrenalin rush that the 1100 offered but I also enjoyed the improved handling, reliability and build quality of the CBR.
I have gone from Bridgestone 020s to a 020 rear and 014 front, but the best money I have recently spent was on a pair of Michelin Pilot Road 2s. They are simply fantastic in all weathers and I find the bike brakes, turns and drives such much better with them. Apart from having to replace a centre stand spring, the bike has needed nothing apart from routine servicing. It has been ridden through horrendous weather but still comes up gleaming every time.
The best thing I like about the bike is its versatility. It commutes easily in all conditions, it enjoys the twisty stuff (now I have set the suspension properly), and was completely comfortable "sports" touring. I ride a BMW R1200RT at work every day and I get to ride other bikes on a frequent basis. Whilst some are faster or better looking, I cannot think of another bike that does everything as well as the CBR for what they cost.
It has taken me a little while to really warm to the CBR. I am now at one with the bike and can honestly say I look forward to riding it every day, whatever the weather or the journey.
I can't tell my bike I love it so I'm telling you guys instead!!!!

RE: The first 12 months of ownership.
I couldn't agree more. Just a great bike!!!
I also have ridden a lot of different bikes, trying to find a future replacement for the Cane, recently I testdrove the BMW K1200S. Very fast bike, and comfy as well, but i just diddn't do the same thing for me, as my Cane does... It's one of the few bikes I have ridden which gives me a big smile on my face every time I ride it, and still is a great everyday ride! That beingeveryday commuting, traveling two up or justpure fun and games...
The old girl justhas a type of personality newer and faster bikes somehow don't. So when returning fromthe mostof thetestdrives, I can't help thinking, that this is maybe the closest I can get to a perfect bike fitting my needs!
I think that the only bike that would really do the same trick to me, would be a VFR1000, if they ever build one...
