Fairing insulation backing
Hi all,
My plastics need to be worked on and I was wondering how anyone has removed the insulation/sound proofing from the panels and whether it can be purchased off the shelf to replace? John |
i have had to do the same on my 1988 hurricane to fix the pannels, what i tried to do was only remove it where it was needed to do the repair, it falls to bits when you take it off, i had some seat foam (very thin stuff) in the shed and filled the gaps with this and put a strip of exhaust tape with extra glue ( as it gets warm) over the top, you can buy the exhaust tape and bandage from halfords.
hope this helps :icon_wink: |
maybe contact an aftermarket fairing company like extremefairings and see if you can buy a s heet from them.

Hey:
This type of automotive stuff works great and last a long time. Dub Project Blacktop Exhaust Muffler Heat Shield 3M Stick on 200mm x 360mm MS1 | eBay |
There's loads of stuff on e-bay, the stuff Michelle pointed out seems pretty good, but have a look you might find something better/cheaper.
