RE: Expected mileage for CBR 1000 -92?
Mine went to 90,000 miles before it started to use any oil. It's at 122,000 now and still runs fine but is using enough oil that it's time to start thinking about it.
This is on a well maintained bike but also one that's run pretty hard. Many hours spent between 7,000 and redline, including track riding. The first oil consumption showed up only at the track, only extreme riding. By now, it'll use a half quart on a 500 mile street ride that's about 50% hard twisty and the balance semi-civil cruising. Hope that helps.

Thanks, it sounds promising and seems to be a great bike. I have just bought it and will mainly use it as an commuter here in Sweden. It will also be used for active driving on twistie roads and maybe once or twice a year on track days for mature bikes . It will help to keep the mileage down on my GSX R1000 -03 which is used both on roads and track.
Another question, how are your bike geared for best all around performance? I beleive it has 17f/42r sprockets stock and will change to something giving max rev at real top speed. There is a 16/46 gearing available which I think will do, what are your opinions?
Thanks again
