Default Exhaust pipe rust!

I have some surface rust on my exhaust pipes all the way from my headers to my pipes. I was wondering what you guys though if I sanded the pipes and sprayed them with some of that grill paint stuff. I looked at some and its rated to "withstand temperatures of up to 1200 degrees Fahrenheit (648 Celsius)." That seams to me like that is way hotter than my pipes would get but I don't honestly know how hot the exhaust system gets. I guess in the worst case it gets to hot and paint peals off?

I'd go for it. In fact, I will likely be doing the exact same thing fairly soon as I have the same surface rust pitting on my pipes. I used the BBQ paint on my two stroke dirt bike pipe years ago and it worked fine. Pipe looked good as new too!

Dupli-Color makes high heat engine enamel rated to 1200 degrees f. that is available at auto stores. I've used some on my pipes without any problems.
