Exhaust blowing

Exhaust blowing
well my exhaust just started blowing. I can see where it has gone - there is a kind of recessed section on the top of the collector box and that's got a hole in it. Im hoping that if I take it off and give it a good wire brush I can get it welded. I suppose I might as well give it a coat of paint whilst i'm at it. Replacement systems are out of my budget at the moment.

RE: Exhaust blowing
When I had a VFR and visited their forum, I remember there were lots of people who posted threads about painting exhausts.

RE: Exhaust blowing
Thanks for the replies.
My downpipes are only good for patching up, so no Creamic behaviour going on here. I'm not sure where you are old1000 but I suspect the USA and i'm in the UK....plus i'm not sure they would fit my 95 CBR. Thanks anyway. Hey hmm that bikersoracle forum is interesting - there is even another CBR1K forum over there. I looked for exhaust painting stuff and indeed there were a few posts about that. BBQ paint was mentioned quite a bit - I might give it a go :-)

RE: Exhaust blowing
Hi Guys,
Well, I don't want to wee on your particular bonfire here, but exhausts corrode mostly from the INSIDE, not from the outside. It's the hot corrosive gases that do the damage. Plus engines produce a lot of acids when they are cold and if you only do short journeys it makes it worse. So any kind of coating on the outside of the exhaust would not really help very much, apart from making it look nice. Best put that money towards a stainless system that won't rot! Good luck anyway.
