Default Drive Chain replacement

I recently had to replace a rear tire (that was only a few months old-still smarting on that) that had picked up a piece of metal. I decided to replace the sprockets(both) and the Drive chain. I replaced the sprockets stock and installed a 530 O ring chain. My Honda dealer suggested a master link and a clip to hold it , rather than stamping the rivets. I called around as I had a hard time accepting the clip idea and was told by different shops that the clip would work, put it on the right way(d'uh) and not to worry. I did this and have ridden the bike about 300 miles so far, anxiously checking it when ever I stop. This includes high speed driving >100MPH tackling curves with the agressive up and down shifts, powering out et al. My question is for opinions from this learned group. Is it safe ?

yeah it works and yeah it's relatively safe ........but safer than a rivet master link

Nope , not in my opinion. I would not be as confident in a clip style especially when
you rack up plenty of miles towards then end of the new chains life span.

Just an opinion is all and considering we're talking like < 10 bucks tops in the difference
from a cost perspective.......why risk it ?

BTW....... me thinks this ain't the place for this posting .....better out in the main section !

Thanx Sprock. It nags me so I should get peace of mind and have it riveted. There was no cost difference other than buying the tool,I guess that counts, huh ? The dealer gave me both of them,so it's justa question of having it done or buying the stamping tool and do it myself.
And I think you are right, this thread is not a how to install the chain /sprokets,but a question of method.
How do I move it or do the moderaters have to? My bad ,guys..
