I have heard never use reserve, but I didn't know why.
I get top tier gas, change fuel filter every few thousand miles and never use reserve.
I am servicing fuel system and decided to clean the in tank fuel filter, which I did probably 15 years ago. This is what it looked like yesterday.

I agree, but most of it fell out when I pulled it off.
Also, a lot of crap was still on the tank lose.
Upon close inspection, there was a small hair (you can see it still on) and quite a bit of bug parts like wings and main body. The rest was just dirt.

Looks like bits from a nodding donkey.
Jokes aside though, there is an unbelievable amount of crap in petrol and diesel; I run a bit of plant and am amazed at what’s in fuel...dead flies, rust, plenty of water.

I just replaced my entire petcock last summer. The filter was brittle and broke off inside the tank. After I got it out it was yellowed, but clean. Don't know if the previous owner had ever changed it.

One note though. I'm a religious user of Seafoam. A dose every other or at least every third tank.

There's online recipes for Seafoam. Might even be one on the search here.

Combo of Naptha, Denatured alcohol and Toulene?

There is no alcohol in Seafoam.

Edit: I may take that back...someone pointed me to an MSDS, but it was pretty cryptic about ingredients. Still, there was a suggestion of 'isopropanol', I believe. Seafoam says their product is 100% made from refined hydrocarbons (hydrogen and carbon bonded molecules), but alcohol is not a hydrocarbon (has an oxygen atom bonded to the carbon and hydrogen pairs), so I dunno WTF.

Here we go again, we will end up with a list of ingredients that are hard to find in Oz and we would have to buy 20 litres of each ingredient and cost us around $500.
