A disturbing truth
Hi all
Now it's been a while since I have written on this forum, so here is a small update.
About 6 months ago one of my mates bought a new bike. A VFR800i and popped by so I could have a test run. A very nice bike and I have always been a fan of the VFR's.
Of cause we had to try the VFR back to back in acceleration test with the CBR, and I thought that now was the time to show the VFR who was the daddy on the open road.
Off we went in 4'th gear on a handsignal, a sort of rollon test from 80 km/h to max.
I cranked open the CBR and at about 200 km/h I looked over my skoulder to look for the VFR, hopefully in the distance, and stared right into it's headlights only 5 meters behind me... WTF???
We tried it agan and again in 3,4,5 and 6th gear. Same result I couldn't loose the VFR. My CBR is tuned with K&N filters, two large race cans and puts out 119 bhp on the back wheel, the VFR only had a racecan otherwise it was bone stock.
The Cane feels faster due to the way it delivers it's torque, but it isn't
This completely blew me away, and it altered me perception of the VFR as an underdog to the CBR. Now this test is conducted by mortals and not by proffetionals, but it was a supprice none the less.
Since then I have done something terrible...
I have sold my beloved CBR1000F and bought, you probably guessed it, a VFR800i from 1998.
This is one of the best bikes I have ever owned. It's more comfy than the CBR and more flickable on small backroads.
Since then I have tested my VFR against another CBR1000F with same results as before. they are equally fast in the real world, and my VFR can follow the CBR up to an indicated 250 km/h where we backed off.
The CBR is still one of the best bikes I have ever owned, and I will recomend it to everyone who want's a big, stable and fast sports tourer. It was just time for me to try something else.
There you have it. I'm no longer a CBR owner. I have sold my soul to the devil and bought something else, and not even a Blackbird which is way to fast and painfull for me and my licensto ride
Though I havn't done something utterly stupid and bought a Ducati or something like that :-)
There you go,I have said it. Nowyou can kill me for beeing an infidel

RE: A disturbing truth
I have done quite a bit on the bike, replaced a item or two,to make it stand out from the crowd, but nothing drastic.

I actually came from a VF1000 to the CBR1000 ....I do understand why the V's are so popular..
and yer , probably a touch more comfy...
But mate ....I could never leave the four inline buzz ever again now ..
Hope your V works out well for you Noe ..

RE: A disturbing truth
Sure the CBR has a more easy-going engine, but the sound of that V4 with an Remus endcan is just fantastic :-)
Here is some pictures of some of the epic moments I have had with my beloved CBR

Glad you managed to post it Noe.......
Well, I've said it before -
Just because you change your bike doesn't mean you change your friends.........
Visit often and tell us about your adventures (even if they are on a VFR)
