I didn't know that Harley dropped the axe on the Buell line (mentioned in the Mac write-up). They're idiots.

They didn't sell well enough.
I don't think the overall package was attractive enough
I didn't think much of them myself............................

There is another thread on the ending of Buell. Buell gives a tearful announcement on YouTube.

Heavy, old tech, low horsepower engine to power a sport bike that is supposed to be nimble and race? Horsepower good. Weight bad.

It was like a movie that gets put together as a business deal, when the result isn't anything that anybody wants to see.

Other than Harley fans who want a Harley sport bike for variety. Apparently not enough of those existed.

It funny that Buell switched to the Rotax engine and then went out of business. They finally got a great engine that everyone was waiting for. I saw it coming, Harley riders that wanted a sportier Harley, I thought was the Buell customer base. Now a non-Harley engine, No way. Wnen a HD rider/owner is asked if they have a bike they resopnd, "I HAVE A HARLEY." When a Buell owner is asked they say, "I have a Buell, it's like a Harley."

They must have started running the assembly line for the 2010 models. They may have some good deals on them as HD would be suppling parts and Rotax will be around for a long time. Other buyers may be turning their noses at them as they are a discontinued model, driving prices down.

Buell

Is Rotax it's own company or is that part of Bombardier?

I think they are their own company. They also, I believe, make engines for BMW and Aprilia.

Rotax have a huge range of engines, which are used in everything from microlights to Kart racing.
Bombardier Inc owns Rotax now.
