Returning to the original problem, ie rolling resistance, leak or no leak in master or slave cylinder I imagine the drag will still be present. Like another reply posted establish whether it’s the engine department or the drive chain/ rear wheel rotation that’s causing the drag........(even if I do put diesel in my tank)!!

I'm using Rotella T4, 15W-40.

And yes, one fiber plate has a slightly larger ID than all the others. This one has to go in first in order to clear the judder spring and spring seat.

Rotella T6 5W-40 all the way. I like to start the bike up during the winter, and even 10W is too heavy for Missouri winter temps.

The only advice I can add is make sure the slave cylinder is tight to the engine and bleed the system.

Update...clutch is all together again. Moved on to the shift mechanism to see if anything was going on in there. Took everything apart, and no signs of excessive or unusual wear. With one exception...the drive sprocket seems too loose on the countershaft. I'll try to upload a short video that shows what I'm concerned about. Seems like excessive play between the mating teeth. Also, what is the ring damper (19) and ring guide (18) for? There is play between these and the drive sprocket as well.

#19 and 18 are not needed. Supposedly, if your chain comes off, it is there to retain it. The rollers, supposedly would ride on #18 and the inside links be dampened by #19.
You would need the factory sprocket that is drilled and tapped to install them. If you replace the front sprocket with an after market one, they are not drilled and tapped so you toss #18 & 19 away or use #18 as a paper weight.

^^^^^^
spot on - and there's supposed to be a good amount of play on the front sprocket
as much as 3/16 wiggle left to right sometimes

edit looked at your vid ..........it's normal !

and yeah new plates can drag until broken in btw especially in cold winter temps with fresh cold thick oil

Thanks everyone for your input and feedback. I have all seals and other various bits and pieces on order. I also bought Rotella T6. I suspect that the new plates are dragging because they're new, and the cold thick oil isn't helping. And with the clutch slave leaking and possibly not actuating fully, that can't help either. We'll see how things turn out when she's back together. I wish I could have rode today...it's gonna be unusually warm here in Chicago today.
