Default Choke stalls 96 hurricane

Hi all,
my 96 was running perfect. I parked it for a month and now it won’t start or run when I use the choke. Since it ran perfect before I don’t understand why it does this. It starts up cold without the choke if I give some throttle but not if I pull the choke like I always used to when it was cold.

Thanks for input guys.

That's odd. Usually if there's trouble starting it's the opposite problem (ie will idle on choke but not without)

It sounds like it's running, so maybe not worth going to great lengths to diagnose it, but next time you're doing work on it I'd check out the air filter and make sure you're using fresh gas. To confirm rich you could pull the plugs, but if it runs fine I wouldn't bother

My daily is an 82 goldwing and it never needs the choke. Even on crisp mornings

It is odd. If I had to guess I would say the choke circuit is clogged. The good news is that is a pretty easy thing to clean.
