CBR1000F - Electrical Mistake = major disaster

Hi
I tried to wire a led light bar via a solenoid switch using the high beam as the switch mechanism.
Using a diagram i found online I apparently sent a charge through the harness destroying an earth somewhere...
I now have no spark but have power to the coils, no headlights but power is flowing to them, no indicators, the temp guage rises straight to hot and the fuel guage doesn't work.
Any ideas where to start searching?
Any advice highly appreciated.
P.S. I'm a novice at electrics so dumming it down will help.
Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.
The only advice I can muster up is to start back at the battery and start tracing grounds looking for the problem. If you don't have the wiring diagram its in the manual.

Hi mate
By the ounces of it you have an earth problem ( negative) when the surge went through it possibly destroyed a regulator somewhere and is now earthing out. The fact that your temp guard goes right up is a good indicator that the problem is with the earth side.

Get yourself a good test light or multimeter and as TimBucTwo says, start from one end and work your way through.
