Default cbr 1000f snatchy on/off throttle response when around town

i was wondering if anyone with a cbr 1000f had a similar experience with their motorbike. I made the proper adjustment to the chain, thinking it was the symptom of a loose chain, but has not corrected the problem. When commuting around town at low speed, or coming out of a slow turn, i find the bike very snatchy, if that is the right term. I was wondering if this is normal for this model, or if anything can be done to remedy the problem.

Welcome to the Forum !
Could be a number of things......
* Worn chain and sprockets, or poor chain lube
* carbs out of adjustment
Any other symptoms - Poor starting/idling.......?
Is that snatchy as in starts and stops in the corner ? Jerks before it pulls ?
Stutters on throttle opening ?
Try and be a bit more specific, Greatwhitepom......

hello shadow 1, thanks for the interest.I bought this lovely '95 cbr1000f about two months ago, rides like a dream.Mechanically everything seems very well maintained. The sprockets look new, the chain ispretty new,no tight spots or loose spots and at the beginning of the adjustment marks, and well lubed. It starts first pop every time and hasnt missed once on my weekend rides, but the problem seems to be at slow speeds. When the throttle is backed off for a slow corner or roundabout etc ,it seems to lurch abit as acceleration is applied.feels like slack is being taken up somewhere.Never had this with any of my other bikes ,and thought perhaps it was trait of the cbr.

No, not a trait of the CBR as far as I'm aware (mine doesn't do it, mine just eats reg/rectifiers)
It could be your primary jets are a bit mucky, which would manifest itself at slower speeds, or your air correction jets may need adjusting (21/2 turns out to start with -helluva fiddly job on mine)
Still, wait for the rest of the boys to see the post, I'm sure someone'll be able to pinpoint it.
If you need a manual, download it at:

OR

Hope it works -

I'd try a simple fix first. Throw some commercial auto carb cleaner in your gas tank, maybe half a container should do, and see if that helps. Doing this cleared up a similar problem I had with an old V65 Sabre that I had at the time just purchased- and very quickly too. Besides, it's very easy to do and shouldn't cost more than a buck or two.

SeaFoam seems to work really well. Perhaps your rev's are too low. The cane is a heavy bike and sometime I have to feather the clutch with a higher RPMa bit on the slow turns to smooth out the power. (plus it hides my CC noise a bit)

I don't have to do anything like that, Gill, and my carbs aren't even properly balanced........your problem is camchain stretch.......messes with the valve timing.

The last guy I knew of with this problem had a blackbird ( Carb model )

He replaced his chain & sprockets, had the bike set up on a rolling road etc etc

Turned out to be worn cush drive rubbers.
