Default CB1000F Oil question

Hello,

I have recently sold my CBR600FY and bought a 2007 CB1000F which has only got 2500 miles on the clock.

Now my question is the bike had its first service in May 2008 at 596 miles and since then it has not had the oil changed because the bike has not done the 4000miles. Should i change the oil and filter since its now 3years old or do i leave it until i do the 4000miles?

I am due to put around 1000miles on the bike over the next week on a trip so should i just wait till after this or change it now?

Thanks for any thoughts
Mark

I always change oil on a new-to-me, used bike. The age of the oil in that bike's sump is sufficient to warrant a change, no matter what kind of oil it is.

I'd certainly change it if anticipating a nice long trip!

Make sure it's proper "motorcycle oil" not automotive
