Default Carb jets

On my '90 I have to carry a little bit of choke at in-town speeds. Otherwise the bike "surges" and does not run smoothly. I interpret this as the engine is running too lean and I need to rejet the carburator to richen it up. The bike has a 4 into 2 into 1 exhaust system with a Vance and Hines slip on that was just repacked. Also running a K&N air filter.
What do you think?

Yeah, I know what you mean. Not many twisties in Kansas! Thanks for the advice. Rejetting is more feasible right now so I think I will.

Steve-O,
I have the full V&H system on my '93. I have installed the Dynojet jet kit and it runs great.
You might start with just cleaning your slow jets in methylene chloride (paint stripper) to remove built up varnish in those jets. I use stock slow jets, 1/2 size up on the mains but the biggest help were the replacement needles in the kit.

Thanks for that Bassman. I'll have to get it sorted out. Being the third owner sucks sometimes but I am lucky to have a nice ride like my CBR.
