carb insulators for 94 1000F
 

Hey guys
Will carb insulators for a 87-88, 90-91 cbr 1000 fit a 94 cbr 1000F. Found a great deal on 4 new ones for 40 bucks plus shipping.
I figure they should fit as the carbs are basically the same size from 87-96.

Here is the part number OEM PART #16211-MM5-600 says it fits 87,88,90,91 cbr 1000fs but skips 89 ???

Everybody else wants 90-100 bucks.

Here's a search I did - which does pick up the 1989 as well.

Thanks SB I see where it does pick up the 89. Seems like 93 -96 are almost impossible to find anywhere. I think I might take a chance and order the new carb insulators for 40 bucks.

I know my 87 insulators wouldn't fit a set of 95 carbs I got. The 87 carbs were more of a v shape where the 95's were straight. Not sure if that helps or not. I'm pretty sure 93-95 carbs were all the same.

Just did a bit more research on the carb boots.

It seems there is three different types/offsets for the 93 to 1996 CBR1000F

16211-MZ2-600 INSULATOR A, CARBURETOR left hand side
16212-MZ2-600 INSULATOR B, CARBURETOR 2 x middle
16213-MZ2-600 INSULATOR C, CARBURETOR right hand side


So the Mark 1 (87/88) and Mark 2 (89/92) boots WONT fit!

Ill be wearing the hat right beside you with my unused set of 95 carbs.

SB and PMCG dont worry I did not order them. Was going to but pulled off my carbs last night. The carbs are much straighter across than the V shaped angle on my old 88 cane. PMCG you are right on point with that, they are positioned different. Carbs look the same as the 88 but there mounted different. Its very noticeable. Wow why did Honda have to do that. I quess to pick up a few more hp. I will keep searching for some new ones. But I am not paying 100 bucks for them. If I can find 4 of em for 40-50 bucks I will get them. They want 45 $ a piece for them thats crazy.

I am tempted to take the insulators up to the parts store and try to match up the diameter with some silicone tubing, then cut them to length myself. I am sure the factory clamps wonts work on this tubing so I will have to use worm clamps which should work fine. I read somewhere on the board some one used radiator hose and it worked fine. But i would worry about the fuel breaking down the rubber. I dont know it might be ok until you look down and see a puddle of gas under the bike or a fire...

I appreciate you all looking into this and you dont have to go sit in the corner and wear the hat.

I know that I read a thread a while back about a member using radiator hose as the insulator. Can't see why it wouldn't work at a fraction of the price.

The way its looking now, I am going to the parts store to see what they have to offer. Your right PMCG for a fraction of the price you could use radiator hose. I am concerned with the fuel breaking down the rubber, but I know it would last for awhile. Radiator hose is pretty tough. I may end up trying it.

Hopefully should figure something out this weekend. I sprayed some WD40 around the each one of the insulators and the rpm went way up. So they need replacing. Cant complain they only lasted 19 years. Damn Honda. LOL.
Did the insulator replacement for the 88 cane and it only cost me 50 bucks. I might as well clean the carbs while I am in there. Did that on the 88 cane and she ran like a champ afterwards.

Next on the list will be a new cam chain tensioner and chain. Did that on my 88 cane its not to bad of a job. After that she should be good for awhile.

Pulled all the carb insulators off. Besides the rubber being rock hard, one of the two insulators in the center had a chunk of rubber about 1/2" long and 1/2" deep missing It was on the bottom of the insulator where it mates to the intake port. You can see where gas has been trickling down under the port. NICE !!! I wondered why I had idle problems with it. Now I know. I wonder how much performance was lost because the cylinder was not getting all the fuel it needed. Its been doing it for awhile as you can tell from the gas stain. No wonder I got it so cheap back in May. Well she is in good hands now. I will get the old girl back to where she needs to be.
