Carb Balancing again....

Hi there you lot. Im just about finished putting one of my thou's back on the road and i'm trying to balance the carbs. I've got the bike running just about spot on but i cant get No. 2 carb to synch with the rest of them. Carb 1, 3 & 4 are all at 22 but no. 2 is at 19. When i adjust no. 2 to bring it in line with the rest the bike runs really rough but if i leave it at 19 she runs nice, not perfect but nice. It could be a dodgy carb gauge but is there anything i can try to get all 4 carbs synched together or should i just shut up and ride the thing...
Cheers, Mark.

Are you counting left to right or right to left?

Good question there MarkR since im on the other side of the planet it'd be your right to left but my left to right (when sitting on the bike):D. I've had the carbs apart for cleaing, they where filthy, just need to balance them up but as i said its running fine so i might just ride it for now when effin rain stops...

Just got back this weekend and spotted your inquiry. The first thing that comes to mind is, did you set your guages on No3 before you started to ballance the carbs? At the end of the day it does'nt really matter what the reading is, just that thay all need to be the same. If you set the guages first then starting with No3-2 then do No1 and lastly No4 then you should be able to get them to run on the same reading. You will also have to turn the idle screw up to at least 1700rpm, this will ensure that you can elimnate needle flutter. Hope that this helps. :)

Sitting on the bike from left to right is 1-2-3-4. No-2 can't be balanced, it is the base that the others are balanced to. How I do mine is to adjust the inner adjuster to bring in #3 and then bring in #4 followed by #1. I repeat the sequence as needed. You should be as close to 2 bar as possible. If it is smooth at 22 vs 19 you are close. The whole sync. thing is to get it smooth. It sounds like you are there.

Are you using stix or mecury? The stix can stick if that's what you are using. I have had trouble with them in the past. My brother wasw using his stix and gave me a call and when I through my mercury on we found his stix job was way out.

RE: Carb Balancing again....

Im sure its carb no. 3 that can't be balanced on the CBR1000FP model onwards but if someone knows different please confirm. I'll get around to having another go this weekend, i don't have a garage so have to wait for some good weather before i take the covers off the bike and in Ireland we don't get a lot of good weather this time of year.
Mark.
