CAN I CHANGE FROM ***STOCK TIRES***AND STAY SAFE

RE: CAN I CHANGE FROM ***STOCK TIRES***AND STAY SAFE
I would stay with the OEM size, remember the tires are part of the suspension design.
Going to alower profile in the front and throwing more weight from raising the back, the front tire will wear out quicker too.
*side note: I wish internet etiquette would be the opposite for CAP letters, I can read them better at my age. [sm=lol.gif]
Griffin, thanks again for the center stand photos.
Carl, I haven't forgotten your shock.

the last bike i was riding had dunlop qualifiers on it and i loved them but you lose life in the tire for the soft compound and i tend to realy lean in the twistys (my chicken strips where only bout half an inch wide if that on a 180 rear tire)

Cold here 25f and snowing.
As for tires. I have Dunlop roadsmart, 120/70zr17 and 180/55zr17.
I run both at 42 psi. They are made with a dual compound, a harder rubber for longer wear in the middle and a softer rubber on the sides for corner traction.
They are a very good wet weather tire, even though I try to avoid rain, the weather in New England, USA. is unpredictable.
These tires suit me fine and I will purchase again. Although I may change the rear to OEM 170/60zr17 the previous owner was running 190/50zr17 which I replaced pronto.
I believe you should never change the tire size more the 1 size up or down from OEM specs.
