Default Bulb Clip - 1991 FL model

Does anyone know if the clips that hold the bulbs in to the headlight on a 1991 FL model are available separately ?

Alternatively - is the clip fairly universal on hondas ( ie - would one from another model fit ? )

Just hoping to get info before i start looking round for a new one ( old one has broken and bulb vibrates in housing )

It's a European model with standard 55/60 H4 bulbs fitted

If you're handy with wire, you could make one - they are removable and if you take the good one out you could copy it by bending up a new one with a pair of pliers. Not too difficult.....
May be easier to remove the complete headlight so you can see what you're doing. Removal of the screen when fitting new bulbs, and partial removal of the clock binnacle is not an option, but a neccessity if you don't want to spend hours fiddling with it.

Thanks for suggestion - Bike is already in bits for the bulb change - haha

Rang around a few local breakers and went to look at their collection of trashed headlights.

Bought two clips for £3 GBP - job sorted.

BARGAIN - job done !
BTW If you try to fit anything but Honda bulbs, you may have a problem......lugs are different to standard H4's. A mod ring is available.PM me for details if you need them.
Also: fit bulbs before replacing headlight - much easier...!! he he

Mine is a European spec 1991 FL model.

Our headlights are fitted with standard H4 bulbs ( like most of the cars have )

I bought a pair of the "H4 55/60 super Briliance +50%" car bulbs and they went straight in.

I heard aboutHonda specific bulbs so I tried an old car fitting H4 in mine before i bought new bulbs.

I thought it was only US spec headlights that were honda specific bulbs.

Ah...........you learn something new every day. Thanks. Stored in memory bank......he he[X(]
Makes you wonder why the specs are different for Euro and US models, what with retooling costs etc.

I could be wrong but I belive the differences are because of a previous / current US restriction on maximum wattage
for a bike headlight bulb.

If I remember correctly - the honda specific H4 bulbsare 40/45 watts ?

Car H4 bulbs are 55/60 watts.

Standard bulbs will work in US models- you just have to cut off one of the tabs on the bulb to make them work.

Thanks Dean0
If I had a choice, I'd run 130/100W rally bulbs, but I think it'd fry all the electrics...[X(]
I have 60/55W Blue Tungsten in it now - good light at almost any speed.....

Thanks PacoJ, I remember your post about cutting off one tab........I'm trying to prevent a problem if they don't fit - noy a problem anyway as it's Euro specs.
