Battery doesn't seem to be charging
Hello all,
I did a search and didn't find what I was looking for, so I hope I am not beating a dead horse (or battery) with my question...
I had my '95 1000F off the road for about a year because I was having carb problems and decided to ride my other bike for a while. I fixed the carb problem (one of the plungers in the enrichment system had come apart inside the carb). By then, my battery was dead and wouldn't take a full charge. Today I installed a new battery and she fired up with not much effort. I idled her for a bit and she seemed fine.
Then I went out for a ride tonight and she died. The battery went dead, and she had to come home in the back of a pickup.
My question is this: Is there a common problem I should start with (pardon the pun)? I can break out the old multimeter if I have to (It has been a while since I did any electrical work, but I can probably get back in the groove without too much damage).
Thanks for any advice.

Sounds a lot like it's a regulator/rectifier issue to me.
Voltage reg/rec is a pretty common issue. You should be able to find some more info in a search if you look for the above terms.
You can also download a sevice manual HERE. (if you don't already have one). They are always nice to have....
By the way, Welcome to CBRF!!

Thanks for all the input, folks.
I downloaded the manual and printed out Chapter 14. I started the tests from the beginning and found the continuity values in my R/R to be wrong (Some that should have been infinity had very low values, indicating, as I remember, an internal short).
The next question is: Where can I get one for a reasonable (read: cheap) price? The online stores seem to want about $175. If that's what I have to pay, then fine. Naturally, I'd love to save a few bucks.
Thanks again.

Electrosport makes them. Less than $100 including shipping on eBay, with a one-year warranty.

Man, I love the internet. And helpful CBR owners, of course.
