Averege life for the chain/sprocket?
My 99' model is coming up to 20,000k and I was wondering if there is an averege life expectancy on these things sprockets and chains? Just seen 2 for sale, a 94 and a 96, both low k and both bragging they have new chains and sprockets (they both have around 25k).
Just wondering? Still seem to have lots of ajustment left as I averege 15,000k on a back tyre

Best answer is pull the covers off and check the front sprocket - if there's "stretching" of the tooth gaps, or hooking on the tips of the teeth, replace it. I did mine at 50,000 Kilometres (30,000 miles) as the front had stretched a bit between the teeth. Using a really good quality X-link chain helps - mine's been on for 2 years so far, plenty of life left. Lubing the chain helps the sprockets keep their shape too. Less drive noise also than before the sprocket change......
Be a lot shorter lifespan if you thrash the bike through the gears, pull wheelies etc - I don't.

I just had to do mine as the chain stretch was too excessive and the rear sprocket teeth were narrowing - exactly 25K miles. Not expensive or difficult. Me and a friend finished that in an hour or so. Better safe than sorry for the $110 or so I paid (EBay).

I average 23,000 miles on mine. That's before it is really bad and wrecks the sprockets. First sign of tight links, it's off. As such I'm only on my second rear sprocket in 122,000 miles. I replace the front every chain change as it gets the worst of the wear and does show some wearin 23,000 miles.
