Default Anybody Own A BSA

Just asking.

I am looking forward to my next project, having just rebuilt a 1988 KLR650. My father used to ride a BSA when he migrated from Ireland to Australia in the 1950's.

Just wondering how hard to restore, how hard to source parts, etc.

Looking at the 650 Lightning

I've got a BSA .222 rifle but no bike unfortunately...Have a squiz in the classic bike mags for international spares dealers. I can't remember seeing one on the road here.

My friend's dad had a BSA when I was growing up. I think it was a 56 Golden Flash.

I remember him swearing about how hard it was to find parts, but I think he got everything he needed, so it's probable that parts can be a pain, but they are findable.

Hey:

I used to own one (not for long) A 1970 BSA Red Rocket 3, Brakes and 4 speed gear box sucked, Handled well looked ok.

Here is some sources in the UK for spares.

Specialists in BSA Spares/Parts - Burton Bike Bits

British Spares - Classic motorcycle parts for Triumph, Norton, BSA, worldwide..

Supreme Motorcycles - Triumph Spares & BSA Spare Parts spares norton

Draganfly Motorcycles

Lightning Spares Products Page

Triumph Norton BSA Classic British Motorcycle Spare Parts

They have quite a few still making good repo parts, you have to sort through them as different ones sell better spares for different things, so keep the list as you never know which one will have what on hand. And the wait sucks when you find they buy them from a
different source, or one of the others listed here.
