and another project bike has been selected for restoration...
per request of kilgoretrout, ive decided to come check this section out, since i now have a 94 cbr1000f. only has 11k miles, but was involved in an accident. everythings straight, except for the plastics and upper cowl stay :P PO had it stolen, and was involved in a police chase and ended up crashing, so...now ive got the remnants, but i couldnt pass it up for 500 bucks. ill post the same pics i posted in my last thread so you all can see how ambitious i am. as i type this, i have the carburetors torn apart sitting on my desk anyway, just wanted to get familiar with the area that ill be most visting!

Thank you for taking on the project. I am certain you will enjoy the girl. Welcome to CBR Forum. FYI watch out for that Trout. Any questions you may have post them up or you the search button. There are a lot of great people (except Trout) that should be able to help you out anyway they can....

i will indeed. i saw your thread on your breakdown of that cbr you got..reminds me alot of the 85 vulcan i had not too long ago that i got already in pieces and i essentially did a ground up like youre doing. it was fun, but man it took me a few months, especially having to wait for new parts to come in as i went along! lol
right now, im attempting to fix the broken side fairing..ive got some resin and fiberglass cloth, so im gonna see how good i can do. :P
also have the carburetors apart and have already clean them out and blasted every passage i could find with compressed air (its great to finally have an air compressor to do that with! ) so now im just needing a gasket kit so i can put those back together. luckily my diaphragms are in beautiful shape, the rubber is wonderfully pliable. thats my biggest fear when ripping into carbs anymore, is whether or not those things are shot, cuz they are often the most expensive replacement component so since these floats are plastic molded floats...i guess that means i dont have to worry about adjusting float height, right??

couple pics here, one of my carbs waiting for a gasket kit and the other 2 are a before and after of my fairing..it was a pretty nasty crack, it actually went all the way through and it was broken in two at that spot...but the fiberglass cloth with resin on the back side, and some resin on the front sanded down smooth. at risk of losing modesty, its a handsome repair, and its very strong too, im very pleased with myself.
