Default Another carbie question

Can anyone tell me if the air union ports between carbies 1 & 2 & 3& 4 hook up to anything or do they just go to atmosphere? Mine have always vented to atmosphere.

If memory serves me correctly, each had a hose attached that vented to atmosphere. The just kind of wraped around the air box under the tank. Almost like they were embracing the airbox (if that makes any sense).

On my bike they're connected to a single hose which is attached to a small filter-type black box, bolted to the front of the tappet cover - seems there was a filter in there at some stage, long gone........They must vent to air, or the bike won't run, I'm told.

My bike is a 94 and i belive its the same idea if its a california model the ports went to thePAIR valves -NON cailfornia just vented to the atomsphere.. i belive them to be vents for the fuel bowls -if pluged they wont draw fuel ,the hose in the middle is called the sub air cleaner hose from what i can see in the carb break down has nothing to do with these vents.. i still have this filter on my bike, removed the rest of the smog hope this helps

Yup just a breather and vents to the stmosphere. Although some people modify it so it vents to the airbox so it better matches the intake pressure. But would make bugger all difference in a standard engine.

Thank you. Much appreciated. I thought that they were just vents but needed to be sure.
