Alternator Fitment

Hi all,

I have a 1989 Hurricane and it has the later closed cover type alternator on it, does anyone know if the earlier air cooled type fits.
One of the mounting lugs on my cover has cracked off so its not oil tight any more or clamped properly...

Thanks all

It can be made to work, but it's not a straight swap.

Search this guys threads, he did it some years ago

OK, sorry my memory failed me. Harry T Hamster didn't swap the alternator, he swapped his engine for an '87 one.

There is however information in this thread which may be of use to you if you decide to go ahead.

Thanks Hawkwind!
I actually managed to get a new cover from David Silver, so All good.
Managed to trace the noise i was getting too to a failed inner bearing on the shaft, sneaky lil bugger.
So now I have all the bearing No's for that shaft if anyone needs them!
Way cheaper to get them when you know the No's!

Well done Frankie :D
