Alternator chain tensioner
Hello to all, a question...I just finished trying to install a new alternator on my beloved 1000F, while inside I inspected the tensioner, and all was well..fuddling around with the chain caused the tensioner to lift a couple clicks, therefore increasing the tension. I got the alternator assembly in place successfully ( the socket on the end of the shaft tip I got from here proved most beneficial!) and now the starter will not turn the engine over. The idler gear from the starter previously turned in one direction and had a tiny bit of play. Now the idler is immobile. Nothing has changed except the extra tension. Too much tension? Can you release the tensioner to gain some play without opening the engine cases? Any ideas? Thank you!
