alternator chain disappeared 88 hurricane 1000 f1

so I so I decided to start my bike and go for a ride and all I heard was the starter spinning. So today I decided to take the alternator out and the starter out and find out why to my surprise and disappointment there is no chain in the hole.
so needless to say I have so needless to say I have to split the engine and put a new chain on and tensioner. I was able to find the full gasket set on eBay but I have yet to find a place to buy the chain in the tensioner assembly for the alternator and starter.
so my so my question is does anybody out there know where to find these parts. New or used preferably new though. please if anyone can help me I've been staring at the computer so long looking for this stuff my eyes are going to pop out!

Seb might be able to advise you.

I had a quick look at Partzilla and another site and it seems all alternator chains and alternator tensioners are marked 'obsolete'.

This does not mean they are not out there, just not online. Perhaps try your local Honda shop if you have one.

If not, I'm afraid I'd be looking for a good second hand engine that is for sale or being dismantled.

Best of luck with whichever way you go.

Oh, just out of interest, I did find the CBR750F has the same alternator chain.

OK, I think I may have found the parts you need.

From here: Save up to 25% on Honda OEM Parts | MotoSport

I know it's an 87, but the 87/88 are the same. No great detail changes in the engine until 89.

Part 6 28161-MM5-013 CHAIN, ALTERNATOR DRIVE (70L) Supercedes: 28161-MM5-003 AUD 122.79

Part 7 28170-MM5-640 TENSIONER ASSY., ALTERNATOR AUD 147.56

AUD = Australian Dollars. The website will probably cater for whichever currency you have.

I hope it works out for you.

Cheers, Craig

I've moved the thread into the general CBR1000F section as it's NOT a 'How To'

As Seb has advised, it might be a lot simpler to find a used engine, either to cannibalise, or as a straight replacement unit.
