Default aftermarket pipe

Hi, I'm looking for an aftermarket pipe for my 88 1000F. I'm more concerned about shaving weight than sound, power or looks. Any suggestions?

The Vance and Hanes SS2 R weighs 22 lbs. complete.

Thanks. How much of a power gain is that worth? My understanding of aftermarket exhaust systems is that the power gain is pretty much the same for all of them. I've also heard that the bulk of the increase in performance is due to reduction in weight. That being said, there's a Kerker that's $300 and weighs 15 lbs.

Granted, the V&H is WAY better looking, but this is my track bike. Its days of visual appeal are long gone.

Just ordered the V&H SSR2, can't wait to fit it to the bike and go for a blast. Will it require any carb work after fitting...?

My understanding is that it doesn't require re-jetting.

I got mine out of the box and it looks great. I'm having trouble getting my rad out of the way to finish removing the original pipes (bolt is seized)but I hope to have it installed in the next day or two. Somewhat of a moot point I suppose as there is 15 cm of snow here right now and I'm not going riding till spring.

Post some pics when you get it on, you'll still be able to start her up and drool over the new note she sings.

Well, she'll look a bit bare as she's stripped of all her plastics and tank in preparation of her getting a new paint job over the winter.
