Adjusting Drive Chain?

Pulled both wheels this morning, was going to mount new tires myself but had no luck finding tire irons. Gave up and took them to a tire shop. They had the both tires mounted in less than 10 minutes for $30 and did an awesome job! Worked for me.

I have the back tire on but don't see any specs in the service manual on drive chain tension. It's entirely possible that I've overlooked it. :icon_doh: I'm thinking about 1 1/2" of play? Help me Obi-wan Kenobi. You're my only hope.

3/4" play, Dao.

Ty Mr. Trout!

You're quite welcome!
Another thing...
If you don't have an owner's manual, here is a link to one in PDF.
Factory Owner's Manual

The spec for chain freeplay is on page 72 of the manual (pg 76 of the PDF) :)

DOH!! I have it but only looked at the service manual! :icon_doh:
Thanks again

Remember to spin your wheel and adjust it at the tightest spot Mr Jones ...

Good morning to you Mr. CBRClassic and thanks for the advice! Don't work too hard today.
Thanks to you too Mr. Trout!

I think I've got it under control now. Putting away the tools and going for a little ride. If the chain doesn't break or jump the sprocket, or the wheels fall off, or the brakes fail I'll be in good shape. :icon_wink: If any of that happens, my insurance is paid up and I could use a vacation anyway. :icon_teeth:

Just remember, a vacation with a set of handlebars stuck up your fanny, isn't much of a vacation. :D

kilgoretrout 09-10-2009 05:27 PM

Enjoy the ride, Dao!
