Adjusting chain-No tick marks for wheel alignment

Adjusting chain-No tick marks for wheel alignment
I tightened my chain yesterday, but there were no tick marks for wheel alignment. Did I overlook them? I looked where the owners manual said to look, but there was only an arrow pointing up and down. At what points can I measure the wheel to make sure its aligned?

RE: Adjusting chain-No tick marks for wheel alignment
I have always used an 8ft flourescent tube for wheel alignment.
The marks on the swing arm were always out anyhow.
Put the front wheel straight ahead and line the flourescent tube up from the bottom ctr of the front wheel
to just touch the front edge of the back tyre.
measure the gap between the back edge of the rear tyre to the flourescent tube.
check the opposite side of the tyres with the flourescent tube and see if they are equal.
Adjust until they are.

Never thought to use a florescent tube ? sounds ok ...
I am a straight edge man myself "aluminium" ...
I have in my earllier days been known to use a chunk of good string ...
same method as Dean0 describes , just using string ...
either method ... you get a far better job than those hard to read silly marks ..

I'm with CBR Classic on this one (G'Day, Mate) - I'd probably braek the damned tube.........[X(]
Bike on centerstand, or paddock job, right angle between the wheels, measure from centre of axle each side to marks equidistant from centre of rear tyre on the right angle on the floor, and adjust to suit.

For the record: if there are no tick marks on the axle spacer inside the swingarm, then someone probably put them in backwards. I made this mistake the last time I changed my rear tire. The marks, or "ticks" as you called them, are only on one side of those aluminum blocks. So, if you put them in wrong, you won't see the marks. You should also note the arrow on the back of the swing arm axle spacers. This is where the 2 adjuster nuts are for wheel alignment. The arrow should always point up.
