96 CBR 1000F Clutch Problems
Hello All,
I have a 1996 Honda CBR 1000F. I recently had the hydraulic clutch replaced in a shop and when I got it back all the power is at the top of the clutch release. I am worried that it was not repaired properly. The mechanicsays that there is no way to adjust the clutch and they don't know why it is doing that but there is little they can do. The old clutch release was mid way through the release before I had it replaced. Has anyone out there had a similar issue or can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?
Thanks,
Dave

They're right, there is no way to adjust the clutch since it's hydraulic. If you can fully disengage the clutch then I'd say you're good. I replaced my clutch and right after install the clutch would just barely complete disengagement when the clutch lever was all the way in.
I've been abusing my clutch pretty hard doing standup wheelies and all is fine. I doubt that you're shop screwed up since it's a super easy job.

Well, I have had several bikes and I have never had the clutch not engage until the last part of the release. I don't think its the proper waya clutchshould work. In fact, the clutch that was in it before would engage right when youbegan to release it, not at the very end and it was slipping, that's why I had it replaced. So why would a brand new clutch start to engage at the top of the release all of a sudden? Especially if I purchased all new OEM parts? I paid $630 for a clutch and rear tire installed.
I don't even do wheelies, so I am not really worried about that, I am just worried that if I ever did go to sell the bike, people would think the clutch was going out. I know that is what I would think.
I also called the Honda SportBike dealer here in town and they support my threory that something is wrong.

170+45+150+187 = 552
Not saying that they're putting the screws to you, but I'm just curious (also thinking of become a service writer for my local dealership so I often think of price breakdowns)

I maybe talking out of place since I have not replace a hydraulic clutch on a bike,
but on a car or truck it has an adjustment on the hydraulic actuator that engages/disengages
the clutch, maybe there is a minor adjustment on the actuator, that with new clutch springs
needs adjusted.
