Default 91 won't start

Rode it last week and it ran fine. Now it won't start. Cranks fine, pulled plugs and they weren't fouled, I don't think its getting spark. But I am not a mechanic.

Thoughts? How does a bike break when its sitting still!! Thansk for the input

Did you check for spark(lay spark plug on cylender head to see if they spark) also are they wet after cranking the motor? Are the carbs clean? and check all wire connections. Mine would turn over all day long, but wouldnt start(pulser coil wire was connected with the plastic clip, but internal connections were loose), I would check all wires as well as the carbs.

Try to jump start it from your car battery (with the car not running) and see if it fires.
These bikes can crank but not fire when the battery is half-dead.
If that doesn't work, then start with the plugs like outlaw mentioned. If the spark isn't there, then you want to check plug wires, switches, coils, etc.

Yip, i had a similar sort of issues.

My bike runs flawlessly everyday to work but recently I got the flu & was laid up for 4 days. When i ventured out to start the old girl up she wouldn't fire up. Turned over fine, spark was a little week.

I ended up getting some new sparkplugs cos the old ones where 14,000km old & a bit scummy + i charged up the battery & that seemed to do the trick.

Either that or she just wanted a fondle ?

Does it fire at all or is it completely lifeless, just cranking.

If it fires a bit but just won't catch, my $ would be on the battery. If it'd just cranking it could still be the battery but I'd be thinking kill switch, fuse, bad earth (-) of similar.

If you've got a spark with the plug on the head it doesn't mean that it's strong enough under compression.

Check for a spark, check switches, jump start as mentioned above, check main fuse?? Check negative cable from battery is attached.

When you've sorted the spark move on to fuel. The first thing I'd do would be squirt some aerostart in the airbox whilst cranking. Any sort of spark, and that stuff will bring an engine to life.

Let us know mate!

I guess it was the battery, found a loose neg terminal and then put it on the battery tender for a few hours. It finally caught and started. Thanks for the advice she is starting now.

That's great mate! It's always good when it's something simple and free to fix.

So riddle me this...I go back out to the garage last evening. Guess what..it won't start again...tried to get it to start, put it back on the battery tender, still won't start. Come back this afternoon and hook it to a car battery, still won't start. Unhook it, and go into the house in disgust.

about 40 minutes later I walk out in the garage, try it one more time and can hear its trying to catch. crank it couple more times and it finally starts...idling rough but starts and I am able to warm it up...

Q1 : How often does you cbr get ridden ?
Q2 : do you get much condensation in your garage where you park it up ?
