Default '88 CBR gear change lever question.........

Hi guys,
Just wondering if the gear lever from earlier hurricane models can be replaced with the newer lever with the ‘linkages’ (as per photos) from the newer 1000F. The 1988 1000F Hurricane that we have has the earlier lever (as per pics) without the linkages, but from having a look at eBay listings the newer lever type could be fitted to the older bike?. Really wanting to know to hopefully make gear changes a little easier from first to second as I constantly click into neutral instead of second because I don’t put enough pressure onto the lever and hoping the linkages will solve (or help) this issue.
Many thanks in advance,
Cheers
Peter.

The MK2 & Mk3 later Hurricanes have a pivot bolt mount point on the frame.
You could probably do it but would have to weld in a bracket for the pivot bolt.

I must double check my 87 and compare to the two later models I have.

I do know that on the 90 and 93 Hurricane I have I made adjustments to the
shifter pivot bolt going a with a longer threaded bolt and put a locknut on the
back - those damned bolts always seemed to get loose

Thanks Sprock, it doesn't seem like a worthwhile exercise now it is all back together (and going well!)...had hoped I may have been able to install the newer lever with linkages without major agro,..but really do appreciate your help!
Many thanks
Peter.

Most-likely, Honda added the mousetrap to make up for the distance (X") that the pegs have moved forward from MK1 to MK 2&3. By slapping on only a shorter shifter, there would not be enough torque to get a proper shift. I would think that logic would have you moving your pegs forward if you were to use the newer shifter and mousetrap.

In other words, I think the shifters are the same length (X1=X2) so there would be no mechanical advantage but, you would have to reach more forward to shift with the mousetrap installed on the MK1.

Rider training 101, keep upward pressure on gear lever every time you change into 2nd until you are away and running in second.
I was taught this 30 years ago when I got my learners license and I have not hit angel gear since.
