Default 88 CBR 1000F wheel mod

As some may know I'm refurbishing an 88. I've been searchiing for a thread that contained information on a rim change for better handeling. This bike has nly 22K on it and has sat for years so the tires are shot and I need to replace them but before I retread what I have I thought I'd look in to that mod. I can't seem to find it with a search so can anyone give me a link or comments about a performance change to the rims. Thanks

a couple of weeks ago I fitted a 5.5J SC24 rim with a 180 section rear tyre on to my '88.
if you are interested in details, and would be using your '88 sprocket carrier in a SC24 rim pm me for details.

as for an incredible improvement in the handling you could shorten the dog bone to relay arm location - 17mm or so towards the swingarm pivot.

I think I am one of the few who have done this mod on the SC21 and therefore can say without hesitation and some qualification that it dramatically improves the bikes' handling.
Others fear the mod citing a weakening of the dogbone - but common sense dictates that strenghtening the the dogbone is a requirement when doing the mod.

the SC21 doesn't need to handle like a plastic pig at low speeds!

Thanks for the info, I guess I'll be looking for some rims etc. for future mods. I would like to know more about the suspension mod though. It seems cheap and easy. What is the result? I guess it's somehow better at low speed?
