87 Hurricane Valve Clearances and....
Whats up guys. New to the forum.
Me and my buddy (the one that owns the 87) are trying to fix that clickin noise. Does anone know the valve clearances for the 87 model. Also, where is the timing chain (cam chain?) tensioner?? Its a little loose and we think thats is what is making most of the noise.
Thanks!

So, after reading the two links by CBRClassic.... Do we have to replace and chain and tensioner or can we just tighten the chain with the tensioner?
Replacing sounds pretty hard lol.

It really depends on the miles and type of work the engine has been going through over the period since its last cam tensioner swapout
If the chain is only low miles , it will be fine..
Tensioners can be dead/worn out at anything from 30,000 to 50,000, it just depends on the thrashing she has had ..?
Changing them would seem hard if you are not too good with a wrench?
It is not too bad if you follow all the instructions from the many posts in here on the subject..
give us an idea of the condition and history of the engine before you rip into her with a shifting spanner mate

Yer , like any chain they get get a bit noisy with age , but I personally have not heard much about that chain ...
It is like they just are in their but need no attention ?? (un adjustable I think)
The balancer shaft can make a racket if not adjusted just right ..
It either seems to rattle or growl if too much slack is given to it, ... or it whines like an electric motor if it is adjusted to tight..
