20 year old CBR1000F to Mongolia

Hi again guys.

Like I said in a previous post, this summer I have interesting plans for the CBR :D

The plan is....I ride from London to Mongolia, on my CBR1000, totally unsupported, totally alone!

Once in Mongolia, I will be giving EVERYTHING, including the CBR to the rally childrens charity.

I am personally supporting Riders for Health and UNICEF.

Take a wander around my site, its a bit rough, as I am no webdesigner! But it gives all the details of what I am doing.

www.mongolia-or-bust.eu is the web addy, feel free to look around, sign the guest book, have a look at my blog, leave me comments etc.

Moral support is also support :)

I take it you haven't seen Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman's movie, "the long way round" ?
If you had, you wouldn't even attempt such a ride on a Hurricane - they broke brand new 1200GS BMW's doing it. I like your spirit, admire the cause you support, but other than that I think you're
TOTALLY INSANE[:@]

They had some tough roads to travel to reach Mongolia on their journey.
It was agreat movie/documentary...The Long Way Round.

If you're really gonna do it...carry aLOT of spare parts with you. It's gonna be a really hard trip/journey and good luck.

First of all I wish all the best in your journey and I hope you do come out of this unscaved. Second I hope that you are not serious about doing this alone. At least think twice about having a partner for support if anything does happen. Good luck take a lot of photos of your journey.

The engine will probably hold the trip........but then there's the tyres...i don't think you'll go far with "highway" type of tyres. Therough gravel roads you're gonna drive on for hours and hours and hours are gonna kill the tyres and probably blow you're fork seals.
Then if there comes rain....parts of the road may be muddy...then you'll have to drive that road for miles and miles and miles, How many times are you gonna fall...[&:]...will the bike hold in one piece and the most important...are you gonna hold the trip.

Sorry about all the negative response........if you'll manage the trip you're gonna be a hero for many on this forum.;)

(But what do i know...i have'nt been there myself.)

:D I wish you good luck! Great minds have great ideas!
Riding for UNICEF and charity really makes a difference in the world, I think it's a beacon of hope and a very good example you're making.
Wish I could ride with you, but I'm too old and a really poor rider at that.

Fredrik Persson is a guy from Sweden who last year went round the world on 101 days on his BMW. Called it "101 dagar" ("Freedom World Tour -07"). I met him by chance early one morning on the streets of Malmö in the south of Sweden, just as he came back home again. A helluva ride, he told me. Very nice chap, indeed.

He wrote a blog during his trip, and if you read Swedish you can read it here: "101 dagar".

A list of Fredrik's equipment.
