1990 cbr1000f engine swap issue/question

I have replaced my 1990 CBR 10000f motor with a 1991 motor and find the new motor dose not have a inlet for the small hose coming from the water pump going to the cylinder head ( the "90" had a nipple between cylinder #1 and #2 but the "91" dose not ). I have no idea what to do with the hose! I have looked all over but don't see were it would go ...any help would be welcome

The two motors should be identical, have you taken a look at the parts fiche?

The 89, 90 and 91 engines are identical as Hawk says

Sounds like that 91 engine could be an 88 engine ?

hopelessly lost due to incompetence

Well I pulled the engine VIN and ran it at the local shop they said it was a CBR 1000f 1991 engine. I have looked at the microfiche and it was not much help as far as were the line goes. the new engine just dose not seem to have this inlet nipple. I will keep looking for a answer.

Thank you all for your help

Hey:

Can you take a pic of both and post them on here?

Maybe have a mod help you?

That's interesting. The micro fiche shows the same water pump part # for both years. Also, both years have the same head #. There are 2 head #'s listed for both years but they're the same ones.

Don't know why the one head is missing the tube. My '93-'96 shop manual shows both tubes coming off the pump and head but doesn't mention them. It shows the hose connection between them however.

My guess is that its there to bleed off cavitation. I don't think any harm would be done plugging the hose coming off the pump.

or switch heads.
