Default 1987 Hurricane 1000 spark unit died

Has anyone experienced a failure of their spark unit?30400-MM5-006 .MY bike always started instantly, began to take longer to start ,longer crank times but ran excellent when running. Finally quit altogether.Performed all diagnostic tests per the Honda manual, everything checks out in spec. There are no diagnostic tests for the spark control unit except change out with a known good unit.Ill be looking to buy another spark unit, just dont want to buy a dead one off of ebay. The bike is a keeper, want the best part i can find.Any information regarding possible vendors would be most appreciated.

I would think that it's a rare device to go bad, but not unheard of. So, you're not getting any spark at all on any of the plugs? Pulse generators check out ok? Since there are 2 coils and 2 pulse generators, it seems unlikely you'd have an issue in both. You've got 12v on the Black/White wires of the Spark Unit and both Ignition coils?

Yes I performed the diagnostic tests per the Honda manual.Checked voltage and resistance at the various points on the spark unit 4 & 6 pin connectors, checked the resistance at the mini 4 p connector on left side of bike and lifted tank and verified voltage and resistance at both coils, per the manual. No spark, plenty of fuel.

I will pick up a "guaranteed good part" on ebay. There are always a few there.Just dont want to throw away $100 on defective part and have to deal with return hassles. Its a shame there are no diagnostic tests i can perform on the unit itself other than plugging it in to another Hurricane.I will definitely cut the old unit open once i resolve this and look for any obvious failed solder joint, blown caps etc.Obvious signs of failure that a ham fisted wrench can spot
