Default Security Marking

Can anyone help? I notice what I think is a security code or something like that because it's in two different areas of my bike. It starts DAT and then either an O or 0 (zero) then 6 other numbers. I'd love to know what it is.

Heres a photo with most numbers removed.
Can anyone help?

You’re right, it’s a security code from a company called Datatag. There will also be coded NFC transponders in the seat and in the fuel tank.

If the bike is stolen the Police can go to Datatag (who, IIRC, were taken over by Yamaha) and find the registered owner of the parts even if the bike has been broken for spares.

Brilliant! Thank you very much. Ill have a dig around my bike to see if I can see anything else like a transponder. I'll also get in touch with Datatag to see if they have any info. Might help reduce my insurance.

Default Datatag

Just an update @Ed Harris. I emailed Datatag and they got back straight away with a solution. £25 for a new kit, transponder etc. Once ive fitted it IIjust need fill out tthe form and send it back and they'll get me covered again.

From what I've read it's worth having so why not. 😁😎

Well worth having, I Datatagged my VFR the same week I bought it.

It drastically cuts the value of a stolen bike and that cuts the chances of it being stolen.
