power commander vs fuel control

Hmm hey guys and girls, hows it goin? My name Ron and im still pretty new to this forum. I only recently started getting on here. I know a good ammount of stuff about bike and i have many things done to my 2006 F4i already but I have a question about something.
I will be doing a very long trip in a couple of months, and i got to thinkin about my fuel mileage. I used to race and we had a Power commander on my 600RR. I know you can alter the fuel to air ratio and other things, but that can also be modified to give me more gas miles right? or what about some kind of fuel controller. I know theres alot on the market these days. I guess my main question is, Whats the best way to get all the miles possible out of one tank of gas? what would be the best thing to buy to get the most miles, or the best thing to do?

After looking on power commander's website the only maps for your CBR are performance ones specific to different exhaust/air filter combos. I'm not sure if there is a fuel management setting on the actual software once you install it but I doubt it. Without proper tuning by somebody who is trained and knows what they're doing you run the risk of permanent engine damage. I would just make sure you go over the maintenance for the bike, eg. tires, chain, plugs, and oil, to get the best and healthiest gas mileage for your bike. Or just change around your gearing to drop RPM's on the highway.
