Default Powder Coating Rims

I have a 2004 CBR 600rr and so does my friend that lives in the same town. They are both red/black tail, mine is all stock except for frame sliders, and he has frame sliders and a pipe. I am trying to find a way to change mine a bit to make it different so they are not so alike. I was thinking about gettin my rims either powder coated red to match it or painted red. Do you guys know which would be better, cheaper. I know a guy that will powder coat my rims for $125 for everything. I was wondering if I should do that or just paint them myself. Which is more worth it? Please fill me in on your opinions please and thank you!

Doug

I was going to get mine powder coated but being that I do painting myself I painted then with a basecoat clearcoat. Over all I spend 40.00 in material. Powdercoating is a tougher finish and the right way to go.Johnny

If you get them painted professionally it will probably run you about the same. if its possible for you to get them PCed and the price is reasonable, which it sounds like, I would do it. About to do mine and not sure what i will have to pay, but PC does stand up to alot more than paint will.

Powder coating is definitely much more durable. Most folks end up having to replace the wheel bearings too, so don't forget to add that to the price.

+1 on powerdercoating, especially for that price! You are getting a good deal and that will help your bike stand out from his a little.Anoter good idea is tostrip your wing decals, IMO its a cleaner look but will also help differentiate your bikes.
