Question on engine swaps
I have seen the guys putting a 900rr engine into the F2/F3 frames. And I have heard of guys putting 929 and 954 engines in their 900rr frames. So my question lies here..... If a f2/f3 frame has been modded to hold the 900rr engine, and the 929s and 954s bolt into the 900rr frames, would a F2/F3 that has the mounts done to hold a 900rr engine, also hold the 929/954 engines? Before you guys start saying that infamous statement, "the chassis wasn't designed to hold that much power," please understand thats not my question here. All I would like to know is, does that logic in the question make sense to any of you guys here. I know alot of you aren't going to agree with this, but please, I am not asking for your opionion on if this should be done, I am asking whats stated above. Thanks in advance

I don't believe its the power that's the issue, its the weight.

anything is possible with money and time. is just the matter of is it worth it.(i dont think so) the newer the frame the better and lighter it is. as well as the engine. i doubt the 954 motor weighs more than a 900 motor.

yes it makes sense...

Yes. Sorry that took so long. Even when considering weight, I doubt the 929 engine is WAY heavier than the F3 600 engine, and the F3 frame is more of a tank than the 929's. Just make sure your welds are good and your mounts are supported. |
