paint?

how much do you guys think it would be to repaint my bike? I have a 07 600rr,
i just want a rough estimate to see if i could afford it when i get it. I was thinking about something along the lines of this layout(below) but the black part white, and the red part either a bright blue or a cool shade of green. I dont need exact numbers but if anyone has had theres painted or knows around how much it would cost it would be easier than going to a paint shop :)
Thanks!

You'll get any number of answers on this one...b/c the range of prices varies widely.

I suggest you ask around in your immediate area, as to who the bikers use there. Ideally, you'd like a painter that *only* paints motorcycles. They'll know exactly how to prepare & paint your motorcycle.

Too, most painters will discount the price if you remove the body panels & tank, & bring those to them. Some will discount further if you "prepare" the surfaces for paint...but don't count on this b/c most painters want to do their own prep to get the desired result.

Just do your homework in your local area to see what's available.

Good luck.

Like gotcbr said, the price is going to vary between shops. I just got my bike painted for around $500 and that's because I took apart the bike and did most of the prep work myself. But if you mess up on the prep work, you're going to be paying for it. Also you should take it to a place that " only " paints motorcycle like gotcbr said. I made the mistake of that and took it to a good friends body shop and they had trouble priming the parts. The material of the parts are a little different from a car. This was also their 1st bike they painted hence the low price I got. So gotcbr pretty much stated most of the suggestions I would have followed myself but I'm just giving you an idea of what I went through. One more thing is that it also depends on what color you go with. If you go with a solid color, it's going to be cheaper. You go with a two tone color or even like a 3 stage color (pearl color) it's going to cost a lot more.

im in the process of painting mine i went with HOK and its cost me 500 in paint alone. i work in a body shop and as long as they use the appropriate adhesion promoters for the plastic and its sanded properly there should be zero problems. my fairings are made of abs plastic on the f2 same as many car parts.

I got 4 cans of sparypaint and clearcoat + sandpaper and alcohol for < $20. :icon_wink:

:icon_ditto:, but I went for some more prep stuff and better paint, ran me <$90 still.

It's spray paint, but it does the job I needed.:icon_shrug:
