New tail section

RE: New tail section
yeah dont cut anything. might have to have some custom stays fabricated. key here is research, look at diagrams from both bikes, of the seats, tail, fenders, that way you know how stuff goes togethor. any online store with OEM parts should have the fiche finder that is complete with diagrams.

if you need to buy any oem parts, get them at service honda, its cheaper.

RE: New tail section
Notice I did say modify the subframe... OR replace it.
Lot's of people do this without replacing the entire subframe. I personally would replace subframe if I were doing a 600RR tail or something like that but not for the F4i. The nice thing about replacing the entire subframe is the ease of mounting the tail light and stuff.

Its not a pain at all if you know what you are doing. The F3 subframe is attached to the frame so all you have to do it figure out where to cut of the F3 subframe and weld on new mounts for the 600RR subframe. Along with making sure the new subframe is at the correct angle that is should be at. You dont want your bike to look like one of those
ugly euro streetfighters with the *** all in the air do you? I suggest not cutting or welding your subframe unless a shop does it. Can you imagine a weld braking while your going down the road? Just my thoughts.

RE: New tail section
man would that suck. snicker.
The F2/F3 subframes are welded to the frame whereas the 600RR subframe is bolted to the frame. As previously stated, just cut the F3 sub off and weld on 2 brackets(per side) for the 600RR subframe to bolt too. Then run your wires and mount the taillight, turns, and plastics.

RE: New tail section
I wanted to change my tail section but didn't want to have to do the whole swap so I just seamed the three tail sections on my 97 F3 together to get rid of those awful cracks between the pieces and it looks really nice! A lot more updated and cleaner looking. Just a thought

RE: New tail section
I too have wanted to do the F4i-tail-section-on-my-F4 swap for quite some time... Any suggestions?
Oh, and I did a mod to my tailpipe this week, and it turned out exactly how I wanted! Check it out, and if anyone has questions about it (or anything else), let me know- I am happy to help!
